A little light reading to be had...
Looking to improve my baseball literature library, I went a little bit over the top, and bought a TON of new material. It'll definitely be worth while, and i swear i'm scraping amazon.co.uk bone dry with my purchases! Here's a list of what i've got coming and will be reading over the next month or however long it takes me to get through it all:
Watching Baseball Smarter - Zack Hample
Baseball America Prospect Handbook 2008 - Baseball America
Baseball Prospectus 2008 The essential guide to the 2008 baseball season - Steven Goldman
Baseball Between the Numbers: Why Everything You Know About the Game Is Wrong - Baseball Prospectus editors
The hidden language of baseball - Paul Dickson
Three Nights in August: Strategy, Heartbreak, and Joy Inside the Mind of a Manager - Buzz Bissinger
The Numbers Game: Baseball's Lifelong Fascination with Statistics - Alan Schwarz and Peter Gammons
I told you I went nuts...literally! Other great books to be checked out:
Moneyball - Michael Lewis - One of the all time classics that really gives a great insight into the mind of Billy Beane and the strategy of today's GM
The baseball fan's companion - Nick Bakalar - The first baseball book i ever read and a great one at that. Gives newcomers everything they need to know about the game, while giving the advanced and average fan something to really get their teeth into
The baseball book - Sports Illustrated - An awesome coffee table book that captures memories of the past and present
The Bill James handbook 2008 - will definitely bring out the statistician in you!!
As always, there's still no substitute for watching the great game itself, but combining it with some good ol' material will ensure you're up to date on the latest the game has to offer. I know I will be!

Welcome to the MLBlogosphere, Neil! Great post here, time for some baseball book reading for me as well. I told Zack to check out your post. Just don't put an "h" in his first name or get in his way of a loose baseball at the park and he'll be your friend forever. LOL Have a great time blogging here.

Nice post, Neil! (I left a ribbing to Zack on your previous post...).
Hope you decide to add my new baseball book to your list one of these days: "It Takes More than Balls." It comes out in April. I was taken by your blog name because my business partner (and co-author/researcher) is a rabid Tiger fan and I started a post from spring training last year titled: Who's Your Tiger.
Take care!

Zack, it's tacky. But you're still cool.
